new lyrics are like new skin.

i’ve been down to silvertown
i need you now or never
will you come?

so i’ve got this new tune that’s really got me confused. it’s a lot to chew on musically, and lyrically it’s dense and over-complicated. i’d love for all the songs to come out shiny and ready to record, but sadly it’s often more of a toil, and this song is no exception. luckily, i up for the challenge.

lately, i’ve been into counting crows, specifically their first and third records, and even more specifically a song called “omaha.” he kind of writes about life, being a pattern in repeat, so to speak, turning over and over again on itself, a series of the same disappointments, and i find it bleak but hopeful. the chorus is hopeful, and really one of the better choruses i’ve ever heard. download the song, and think about it when you’re listening. it’s good stuff.

we’re in and in between, as a band. daniel and i are currently stationed in madison, but very soon we might be moving to chicago. or milwaukee. or the van. we’re not really sure, but either way, we hope to continue playing in madison as frequently as we can. if you’re not already, feel free to follow this blog, or our show list here on the site, or on twitter, if you’re into tweeting and the like. i’m @andthelion, and daniel’s @giantxylophone (it’s a marimba). also, feel free to let us know if you want us to visit and play in your city, because we will.

i’ll leave you with this. i hope if you read this you are in love with what you do. not at every moment, no, that would be a difficult thing to say, but when you really stop to think, or when it sometimes creeps up on you in the middle of the night, i hope you know you love it. i hope you feel like you’re right on the edge of your life, the edge of massive failure or brilliant success. how else could you know that you’re doing something important?
